Every Sunday at the Gold River Sunday Market Has a Theme. Here's How Fall Lines Up.

Every Sunday at the Gold River Sunday Market Has a Theme. Here's How Fall Lines Up.

"Our goal with Gold River Sunday Market has always been to create a welcoming place for the community to gather, shop local, and enjoy Sunday mornings together," market manager Jeanie Haddox said in a July release published by the Gold River Messenger. The release also explained how the market is put together. Vendors rotate, and the theme follows the week of the month.

The market opened on May 17, 2026, in the Wells Fargo parking lot at Gold River Town Centre, 2100 Golden Centre Lane. This is its first fall. Anyone planning a Sunday there should start with the date, because the date tells you whether the lot will hold lowriders, adoptable dogs, a yoga class or a craft table.

The week of the month sets the schedule

The market's own site lays out a four-week cycle that repeats every month:

  1. First Sunday, Kids Day at the Market. Family activities and community features.
  2. Second Sunday, Art & Wellness at the Market. Free yoga at 9 a.m., plus local artists, makers and handmade goods.
  3. Third Sunday, Cars at the Market. A monthly car feature alongside the usual stalls.
  4. Fourth Sunday, Pets at the Market. Adoptable animals and local pet-friendly organizations.

The produce, baked goods, flowers and coffee show up under every theme. Entry is free, and the FAQ says the market runs every Sunday, all year. The market's posted hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Some listings from early summer gave 8 a.m. to noon, so check the market calendar if you plan to arrive at opening.

Because the theme is tied to the week number, the exact dates move from month to month. The cycle itself stays the same.

October puts the whole cycle on one calendar

October 2026 has four Sundays, and each one gets a different theme:

Date Theme What the market lists
Sunday, Oct. 4 Kids Day Creative projects, games, story time, face painting, lawn games, puzzles
Sunday, Oct. 11 Art & Wellness Free outdoor yoga at 9 a.m., local artists and makers
Sunday, Oct. 18 Cars at the Market "Low Rider Día De Los Muertos," with trunk-or-treat
Sunday, Oct. 25 Pet Adoptions Adoptable pets and pet-friendly organizations

Kids Day on Oct. 4 is this coming Sunday. The event page says community groups such as Girl Scouts Heart of Central California may take part, and that activities and organizations can change from month to month.

The Oct. 11 yoga class is taught by Spotted Dog Yoga & SUP. The fall registration page lists that date along with Nov. 8 and Dec. 13. When yoga started in July, the market asked people to bring a mat and water and said the class was open to all ages and experience levels.

The Oct. 18 car show runs on an earlier clock

Cars at the Market has its own website, and it follows a different schedule from the rest of the market. October's theme is lowriders and Día de los Muertos. The page describes chrome and candy paint, plus trunk-or-treat so children can collect candy as they walk the row. Entry is free for show cars and for spectators.

The posted run of show:

  • 8:00 a.m. Show cars roll in, park and open their hoods.
  • 9:00 a.m. The market opens and trunk-or-treat begins.
  • 10:30 a.m. Walk the row and talk with owners.
  • 11:00 a.m. Cars roll out.

If you come for the cars, the useful window is between 9 and 11. If you arrive at noon for bread and produce, the lowriders will be gone and the regular market will still be open. The show's motto is "Drive it, don't trailer it."

Each month brings a new car theme. June's was British Invasion, and the market still uses photos from that show on its homepage. July's was American Muscle, sponsored by K. McDonald of Farmers Insurance.

Halloween arrives in Gold River before Halloween

Two days before the car show, the Gold River Discovery Center holds its Fall Festival for its school community. It runs Friday, Oct. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m., with fall games, trunk-or-treat, a pumpkin patch, a petting zoo and a photo booth. Wristbands cost $10 per child and $5 for each additional sibling.

The following Saturday, Oct. 24, Cordova Recreation & Park District hosts Halloween at Hagan from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Hagan Community Park. It is free and includes a trunk-or-treat in the Hagan Community Center parking lot.

That puts three trunk-or-treat events within a week, all before Oct. 31. The Sunday market's falls on a morning, in daylight, which can help families with younger children or grandparents who would rather not be out after dark.

Pet Sunday and the market's dog policy

Pet Adoptions falls on Oct. 25 and Nov. 22. The market says participating rescue organizations and animals may change from month to month, and it has not named October's partners. Dogs are welcome every week, not only on pet Sundays. The FAQ allows well-behaved, leashed dogs and asks owners to clean up and keep them close when it gets crowded.

The same FAQ says Gold River Town Centre is paved and accessible for strollers, wheelchairs and mobility devices. That matters for anyone bringing an older parent, a child in a stroller or a dog that tires easily.

November keeps the cycle going into winter

Date Theme
Sunday, Nov. 1 Kids Day
Sunday, Nov. 8 Art & Wellness, with free yoga
Sunday, Nov. 15 Cars at the Market, "Friendsgiving"
Sunday, Nov. 22 Pet Adoptions

Nov. 1 is also the morning daylight saving time ends, so a 9 a.m. start will feel like 10 to anyone whose body hasn't adjusted yet. The car show site calls the Nov. 15 Friendsgiving show "a pre-holiday gathering to give thanks with cars and community." December is already on the calendar too, with Kids Day on Dec. 6, Art & Wellness on Dec. 13, Cars on Dec. 20 and Pet Adoptions on Dec. 27.

So the market is staying open through its first winter rather than taking a season off. The FAQ's only caution is that "vendors may vary slightly by season." After Lopez Family Farm joined in July, its early offerings included lemons, honey, pluots, apricots, nectarines and white and yellow peaches. Expect those tables to look different by December.

Who has been showing up

The market calls its lineup rotating, so these names come from summer and are not a promise for any particular fall Sunday. The July release listed recent vendors including Butte Mountain Farms, Pacheco Farms, Empress Lane Farms, Frenchy Gourmet, Wheat Ridge Baking Company, The Puzzled Runner, Wayward Books, Sweet Vivienne, Rising Soul Jewelry, Root & Cane, A Shot of Aesthetics, Gaspachos and Petals 350. Art Sundays have included Wild Wonder Photography, Gold River Artisan Collective and Silver Lining Paintings. Musicians have included Music by Mikey LP, Cindy Lace and Misty Mountain Strings. Vendor applications are reviewed, and the market describes the mix as "intentionally curated."

The market also points to the storefronts around the lot. World Traveler Coffee Roasters runs a coffee cart at the market. Its permanent shop at 2095 Golden Centre Lane, Suite 10, is still marked "Coming Soon" in the Town Centre directory, and in July Hoodline reported that no opening date had been set. Dip'd Dubai, a Dubai-chocolate dessert shop, lists its address as 2121 Golden Centre Lane, Suite 40.

For the rest of the year, a Sunday at Town Centre is easy to plan around. Count which Sunday of the month it is, check the market calendar for hours, and come before 11 a.m. on a third Sunday if you want to see the cars.

A Sunday market, a yoga class or a dog walk to Town Centre can be part of what a family weighs when a parent plans a later-life move. If you are helping a parent think about a smaller home that keeps those routines close, Lee Mahla can help you plan that move carefully and at a comfortable pace. Schedule a free consultation.
